The title of the book itself makes people want to buy it out of curiosity. Donald Roos is an independent typographic and creative entrepreneur and Anne de Bruijin is a copywriter, editor and producer. Together they wrote this book using multiple illustrations, different typographic style, strong copywriting with a lot of business focused content.

The project is about redesigning a book using only typography. The idea is to reinvigorate “Don’t Buy This Book” to give it a unique type treatments with the concept of showing success and growth in the book using bold, heavy sans serif and slab serif typefaces with various text weights that stands out showing growth. Using the colors such as yellow and navy blue communicates success and positivity for creative entrepreneurs.

 

With different bold and heavy typefaces used, the book design is created in a simple and minimalistic way. The heavy type is for titles, headings, and quotes to show off the significance but also to keep the clarity by not making it excessive.
